Synopsis
Lenses of calc-silicate rock and bands of meta-arkose occur among banded pyroxene- and hornblende-granulites south-east of Scourie, Sutherland, Scotland. This rock association, together with the chemical composition of the granulites and their deformational history, suggest that the granulites represent a lava pile intercalated with siliceous and calcareous sediments.
