Synopsis
Isocrinid crinoid columnals have been identified from a small outcrop south of Creag Strollamus, Skye. This outcrop has previously been recorded as Durness Limestone but the crinoid evidence proves its age to be post-Palaeozoic. Lithologically the rocks resemble the Jurassic (Lower Lias) Lower Broadford Beds, from which Isocrinus sp. has been recorded in the bucklandi Zone, although columnals are also known from the semicostatum Zone (Upper Broadford Beds).
